Webinar 25 January: (almost) All you need to know about Bike Parking

Research has shown that only 25% of bicycles are placed correctly in the designated bicycle parking facilities. The main reason for this is that modern bicycles simply do not fit in the traditional bicycle parking facilities.

To stimulate cycling, providing bicycle parking facilities is a key necessity in the first place. Secondly, facilities need to be well located and tailor for the needs and characteristics of cyclists and their bicycles.

Why is this relevant?

Next to a safe and coherent bicycle network, cyclists need to be able to safely (without the risk of damage or theft) and conveniently (accessible and close to the entrance of their destination) park their bicycle. The absence of (proper) bicycle parking facilities could be reasons for people not to cycle or cycle more. A key risk factor for investments in facilities specifically and cycling in general.
